Pros

The 200 hectare estate includes a lake, woodland, and direct access to Donnington Castle ruins.

Breakfast is frequently praised by guests for its variety and quality.

The historic Gothic architecture provides a unique and characterful atmosphere.

Staff are consistently described as friendly, helpful, and attentive.

Cons

The main building has no lift; some rooms require climbing multiple flights of stairs.

The bar and restaurant double as a golf club lounge, which can feel busy and noisy with golfers.

“The tranquil setting, removed from the everyday rush, is immediately striking, offering splendid views across the grounds. While some areas show signs of wear, the spacious rooms, particularly those overlooking the lake, create a genuine sense of retreat, complemented by a welcoming and attentive staff. It's a place conducive to winding down, with ample daylight and quiet nights ensuring restful sleep.”
